Windham Boy Scout Andrew Lucas, from Troop 266, recently held a car wash at A. J. Letizio Enterprises to work towards his Eagle Scout project.  Andrew explained, “For the Moeckel Pond Island Picnic Area, I will place two picnic tables on the island and clear brush out of the area. This project will give people kayaking and canoeing around Moeckel Pond a place to stop, rest and eat.”

The Marston-Finn Dam is currently under construction in the area and when complete, water will again flow freely into Moeckel Pond for folks who like to canoe, kayak and for fishing enthusiasts to enjoy.

On behalf of A.J. Letizio Enterprises, Al Letizio, Jr. presented Andrew with a check to help complete the project.   Andrew said, “It was incredibly generous of Mr. Letizio to not only allow me to do a car wash at his company, but to also give a business donation.”

Al was thrilled to be able to help and said, “This is a win-win.  I’m a big supporter of Moeckel Pond and the Boy Scouts, which are a great organization.”  Al has been a registered leader of the Scouts since 1991 and his two sons, Adam, who is a current Scout Leader in Windham and Nick have both attained the rank of Eagle, something only achieved by 2% of Scouts.

Andrew expects to begin his project in the spring of 2020.
